Problem: No trades taken by the AFT8 algo entry system.
Common Reasons:
- The workspace does not include the AFT Algo Module.
- Workspace 2 or above is not being used. See AFT8 Workspaces
- Stage 1 - Workspaces 1: Manual Entry + Automated Exits
- Stage 2 - Workspaces 2: Hybrid Automated Entry + Exits
- Stage 3 - Workspaces 3: Hybrid Automated Trading + AWT
- Stage 4 - Workspaces 4: Hybrid Automated Trading + AWT + MTF
- The Algo system is set to auto-off.
- The long or short is off.
- The semi-auto feature was used and set trading off after it had entered and stopped all trading. It takes one shot and stops in both directions.
- The system max trades per session were reached for a day or week.
- There were no trading signals, or the signals were filtered out (F1, F2, FTE, FTX) on the algo entry controller.
- Time session filters for entry and exits.
- Verify the Instrument Futures Contract expiry rollover days will prevent trading in AFT8 for safety.
- Wrong account or instrument not configured in the algo entry controller/market analyzer.
- Wrong license - blocking live trading, etc., on a sim license.
- Data Lagging Filter: The system has detected data lagging and is not trading.
- AFT.Desktop has not been installed, and no license is found by NT8, or EULA not agreed.
- Workspace templates are not configured correctly for the indicators used as signals or as filters in the algo entry module. The templates must be "Default" or something else.
- Defaults not being used - AFT8 pre-requisites and recommended settings
Are all the indicators configured with a template - should not be empty
Check
Go Back to Basics
Close your workspace using workspaces 2 or 3 - make sure you can use that workspace - change account and trade - turn off the filters - to ensure trades can be taken. Then add back filters as required.
NB: If you are using other workspaces, they need re-configuring to make sure all the filter indicators are configured correctly as above.
Contract Rollovers
- Check if you need to roll contracts forwards via NinjaTrader > tools > Database Management
General Checks
1) Are you able to take a trade manually long or short - does the trade man kick in?
2) With no filters on, set the system on to take a long and short test.
Details and steps to replicate are required to understand the context for your question to diagnose:
1) Workspace - turnkey any changes.
2) Post a controller screenshot so we can diagnose and verify - show the full details of all filters and signals, etc.
3) Error log - is all functioning - Timezone/Language settings - this is not relevant anymore but would be the last call to check./Contract symbology - View Defaults
