How to Find Errors in Windows Event Viewer for ATS Support
The Windows Event Viewer Application Log contains error messages from NinjaTrader Desktop and ATS Desktop apps. These logs are essential for diagnosing issues and should be included in your ATS Help Desk ticket.
Step 1: Open Windows Event Viewer
- Press Windows Key
- Type Event Viewer
- Select Event Viewer (Desktop App)
Step 2: Navigate to Application Logs
- In the left panel, expand Windows Logs
- Click on Application
Step 3: Filter for Errors
- In the right panel, click Filter Current Log
- Select:
- Error
- Critical (optional but recommended)
- Verbose
- Click OK
Step 4: Locate Relevant Errors
- Look for entries around the time the issue occurred
- Common sources may include:
- .NET Runtime
- Application Error
- ATS Desktop / NinjaTrader / AFT Desktop / AWT Desktop etc
- TIP! Net Runtime will typically be more relevant!
Step 5: Copy Error Details
- Click on the error entry
- In the lower panel, review the details
- Click Copy → Copy Details as Text
Step 6: Submit to ATS Help Desk
- Paste the error details into your Help Desk ticket
- Include:
- What you were doing at the time
- Time of the issue
- Screenshots (if available)
Pro Tips
- Always include logs from the exact time of the issue
- Multiple related errors may appear — include all relevant entries
- If unsure, include a wider time range (5–10 minutes before and after)
