AFT7 Indicator Basics
- AFT7 indicators are accessed and are used the same way as any NinjaTrader Indicator
- AFT7 indicators provide enhanced settings features, templates to create read update and delete
- AFT7 Indicator Default settings can be saved to persist look and feel and a default setting via NinjaTrader Indicators list the same as any other indicator
- AFT7 Indicator Templates can be accessed from the NinjaTrader indicator list parameter view
- AFT7 Indicator AFT000 Algo Pro Trader has an additional configuration trade manager view for settings -see
- AFT7 Indicator templates can be used to configure on chart or within another indicator or strategy
- AFT7 Indicator template settings save time, once you have created and saved a template for any indicator you can reuse that in many places to save hours of time.
Accessing AFT7 Indicators
The NinjaTrader 7 Indicators window is used to add, remove and edit all indicators within a chart.
Accessing the Indicators Window
There are multiple ways to access the Indicators window see
- NinjaTrader 7 - working with indicators

Within a select active chart window
- CTRl + I
- Right click > Indicators
- Indicators Menu
Indicator Property Grid view - Parameters
Set Indicator Defaults, Look and Feel
To save indicator defaults for plots, AFT7 indicator template, look and feel you can set a default for the indicator - right click the properties in right pane then click set default.
How to Load a AFT7 indicator settings template
- Select indicator top left pane
- Click New to load into right pane
- Click Load from templates
- Select template click ok
- When ready to view Click ok or Apply
Updating & previewing AFT7 indicator settings templates
Important Tip: AutoLoad Template
When editing and experimenting with different customizations to a template - to preview the changes on chart before saving the template, to see the changes set property group Settings Templates - Property 0- AutoLoad Template Name : False then click Ok or Apply to see on chart.
When you are ready to save and use the template on a chart or elsewhere if you want the indicator to reload its settings then switch 0- AutoLoad Template: True
How to save AFT7 Indicator Template
when ready to save simply click save as - remember the important tip 0- AutoLoad Template above
AFT7 indicators used within another indicator
AFT7 indicator AFT000 and AFT001 both use other AFT7 indicators for their rules - "hosted indicators" , in doing so they allow you to use the hosted indicator templates to easy load and configure.
